Lipped plates

All self-adhesive lipped plates and metal plates have been tested as per DIN EN 1036 for use on the rear side of a mirror. The plates must not be used together with splinter protection film, other films or coatings. When films are used, the area reserved for the lipped plates must not be covered. The holding capacity of the lipped plates decreases on glass surfaces. This application must be tested on a case-by-case basis before use. Only metal plates (smooth or with ridge) with a thickness of 2 mm are tested and suitable for use with mirror magnets. All other lipped plates, such as plates with eyelets or chamfered plates, are 0.9 mm thick and therefore not approved for use with mirror magnets. Eccentric discs or retaining tabs can be used for mounting the plates. If chamfered plates or plates with eyelets are used, mirrors must not be mounted with more than two suspension points, i.e. two load-bearing plates. In case of larger and heavier mirrors, attaching several plates is not permissible as an equal load distribution cannot be ensured for more than two plates. If 2 mm thick metal plates are used, not more than four plates must be mounted per mirror. In this case, the two bottom plates can be smooth. The upper plates must have a ridge as this serves as slipping protection. The maximum permissible size and weight of the mirror depends on the carrying capacity of the lipped plates used (two lipped/chamfered plates or four metal plates). If the corresponding carrying capacity is exceeded, Bohle offers alternative fastening options. Please refer to “Mirror Profiles”.
