Spacers prevent deflection and thus stabilise the structure. They are used where there is a cavity between the material and the substrate over large areas. This self-adhesive plastic variant is often used in the area of mirror mounting.
This absorbs the pressure that occurs during cleaning work, for example, and prevents the mirror from deforming. This provides safety when handling the fragile material. If the mirror is attached with self-adhesive mirror sheets, deflection would result in a peeling load for the adhesive tape. This is unfavourable and can lead to long-term damage to the adhesive bond. Spacers contribute to the longevity of the connection.
